When you have a category in a Joomla 1.5 site with a list of articles, Joomla 1.5 automatically sets up a numbered list that can’t be taken off through the normal administration panels. The fix however is very simple.
The first thing to do is to copy the file from —>
components/com_content/views/category/tmpl/default_items.php
and paste it into your template folder at this path —>
templates/YOUR_TEMPLATE_NAME/html/com_content/category/default_items.php (note there is no ‘tmpl’ in the path for your template)
This creates an editable file in your template folder that will override the main file but still leaves the original as a backup.
The line that must be removed in default_items.php is line 70
<?php echo $this->pagination->getRowOffset( $item->count ); ?>
Save it and the numbers are gone!
I would recommend that you do this with a few other files to get the hang of customizing your sections, categories and articles. There is no risk when you copy them into your template folder because all you have to do is delete it and your web site will revert right back to the original.
